Each year, the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce sponsors a breakfast for new teachers at Plant City schools. The representatives of each school perform a cheer and receive gifts and giveaways from local businesses and organizations. This tradition has spread to other Hillsborough cities, and after addressing Plant City, Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent MaryEllen Elia continued on to four other new teacher events around the county.
