The Plant City High and Strawberry Crest High fan sections had some surprises up their sleeves for the football game Friday, Sept. 18. At kickoff, Plant City students tossed baby powder into the crowd. When it got dark, Strawberry Crest had their own glow-in-the-dark powder.

The rivalry game is a big one for local fans, but Strawberry Crest couldn’t overtake Plant City in a 49 to 6 loss.

Besides the hometown competition, Friday’s game was special in that the concession stand was named in honor of longtime volunteer Dave Robbins.

For over 30 years, Robbins has supported PCHS by serving as an officer of the Booster Club. During that time he also mentored athletes, oversaw the Plant City Optimist Club Christmas tree lot and encouraged students to participate in the Optimist Club scholarship program and essay contest.

Throughout his busy schedule, he always found time to stock, run and clean the stadium and gymnasium concession stands. His family often works beside him in the stands including his wife, Doris; two daughters, Susan and Melanie; son-in-law, Michael; and grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew and Amanda.
