Hopewell Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens has been honoring local veterans for 33 years with its annual Veterans Day event.
The event, which began years ago as a small gathering at a cemetery, is now held at Veteran’s Monument Park. Hundreds of attendees come every year to take place in the ceremony and to listen to local youth share essays they wrote to honor the military. This year the essays were on the topic of what Veterans Day meant to them. The essays will be on display at the Plant City Photo Archives & History Center.
Students from Springhead Elementary School’s choir performed with song and dance for the attendees at the ceremony. The event came to a close with the playing of Taps.
