Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Adam Putnam was the featured speaker at the annual Farm Credit Strawberry Salute Breakfast March 4, at Plant City’s First Baptist Church.
Many local and state officials — including U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, Hillsborough County Commissioner Al Higginbotham, Hillsborough Superintendent MaryEllen Elia, Plant City Mayor Mike Sparkman, directors of the Florida Strawberry Festival and more — attended the breakfast, hosted by Farm Credit of Central Florida.
During his speech, Putnam discussed the state’s “Fresh from Florida” marketing campaign and championed the state’s oldest industry.
“Agriculture is a real, tangible economic pillar in Hillsborough County,” he said.
