The Plant City High boys soccer team was presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy, associated with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions, at the school’s gymnasium at 1:45 p.m. today.
Plant City finished the 2017-18 season as the 10th-ranked team in the country and first in Florida on MaxPreps.com, which accounts for more than 16,000 boys teams. MaxPreps awards the trophies annually to each of the top 10 teams in the country.
The award was presented during the school's spring pep rally, and the handoff of the trophy from Florida Army National Guard Staff Sergeant James Schaus to head coach Caleb Roberts was met with thunderous cheers from the packed gym.
