‘The world stood still’

“Rumor has it” Reba McEntire is consistently rated one of the greatest country music stars of all time. Her fans seemed to agree Sunday evening after selling out the show for the first time during the 2018 Florida Strawberry Festival.

Never one to disappoint, McEntire sang many of her all-time greatest hits like “I’m a survivor” and “Whoever’s in New England” while also sharing some of her personal favorites like “Back to God” and “Swing Low Sweet Chariot.”

Weaving anecdotes of the inspiration behind certain songs and humorous tales of the filming of music videos, McEntire kept the crowd captivated despite the brisk weather. She joked of her first trip to the festival and how she ate more strawberries that day than she “did for all year.” With a smirk, she joked she may have met that record again after the large quantity of “the best berries around” she ate before her show.

After finishing a memorable performance McEntire returned to the stage in her legendary sparkling red dress for one final song. As the lights flashed back on she began to sing “Fancy” to the delight of the thousands in the crowd before bidding Plant City and the festival farewell.
