The VSI Tampa Bay FC USL PRO team had a historic night Saturday, winning the franchise’s first home game with a 3-0 shutout victory against the Rochester Rhinos at Plant City Stadium in front of 1,032 fans.
It was the second franchise win for the expansion United Soccer League team, after picking up a 1-0 win against Los Angeles during a three-game season opening road trip.
“We got really what we deserved,” said head coach Matt Weston. “Rochester is a very good team and historically one of the best teams in this league and we played very well against them tonight and showed great effort.”
VSI Tampa Bay FC, nicknamed the Flames, will remain home at Plant City Stadium for their next game, Sunday, April 21 in a rematch against Los Angeles.
VSI Tampa Bay FC will play all of its home games for the 2013 season at Plant City Stadium, along with the VSI PDL, Super-20s and W-League (women) teams.
