Dr. Richard Griffin won an Outstanding Alumnus Award Thursday, April 7.
Dr. Richard Griffin has had a big impact in the field of optometry, and his alma mater couldn't be more proud.
The University of Florida recognized Griffin at an awards banquet Thursday, April 7, giving him an Outstanding Alumnus Award. Griffin's accomplishments as an engineer won him the award.
"We greatly appreciate your success over the years and are very proud to count you among our Gator engineers," professor David Hahn said at the banquet. "You are certainly most deserving of this recognition."
Griffin, who graduated from Plant City High in 1962, started out as an aerospace engineer before moving into optometry. Working for Visioneering Technologies Inc., Griffin has spent 20 years engineering optical solutions and designs. One of his most notable projects was the NaturalVue multifocal one-day contact lens.
