Students from Jackson and Robinson elementary schools got to learn about gardening at Walden Lake.
The Plant City Garden Club likes to work with children, and recently hosted field trips for two schools.
On May 3, 50 students from Jackson Elementary were taught to identify non-native and invasive plants in Walden Lake, and also got to compare the neighborhood's butterfly garden with their own. On May 9, 40 students from Robinson Elementary went to Walden Lake to study birds, in accordance with the Birds of Florida program that they have been working on in the classroom.
The club says that both groups of students are involved in its Junior Gardener program, and that they participated in the Florida Strawberry Festival's horticulture show.
