Plant City man dies after crashing stolen dirt bike

A Plant City man driving a stolen dirt bike died after he lost control of the bike and struck a guard rail.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports, Tyease N. Thompson, 27, of the 2210 block of Holloman Road, was operating a 2008 Honda dirt bike at a high rate of speed just before 7 p.m. Sept. 13, on Joe King Road near Nesmith Road.

Evidence at the scene shows Thompson struck a guard rail after he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. Thompson, who was not wearing a helmet or any eye protection, died at the scene.

The motorcycle Thompson was operating had been previously reported stolen in Hillsborough County. It was returned to the rightful owner.
