A Plant City man was cited for careless driving after he rear-ended a Hillsborough County school bus full of students this afternoon, on Interstate 4.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, at about 4:49 p.m. May 2, Charles Schell, 49, of Plant City, was driving a 2004 GMC G1500 eastbound, behind a school bus transporting 23 students from Jennings Middle School, on I-4 on the exit ramp to northbound U.S. 301. The driver of the bus, Brenda Richards, stopped ahead of Schell, but he failed to stop behind her. Schell’s vehicle struck the rear of the bus, FHP reports stated.
Four student passengers were transported with minor injuries to St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Tampa; the remaining passengers were placed onto another Hillsborough County bus.
