The Plant City Optimist Club held its annual Respect for Law Dinner May 19, at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.
The event was held to honor the Officer of the Year, Det. Robert McLellan.
McLellan has been with the Plant City Police Department for 11 years and serves in the Criminal Investigations Unit. He was a key member of the investigation into a violent “take-over” robbery of a local grocery store last August.
During the investigation, he was able to link the robbery to a string of other robberies in the Orlando area. He obtained confessions from two individuals who participated in the Plant City robbery.
