Plant City Photo Archive holding photojournalism contest

The Plant City Photo Archive and History Center is gearing up for its annual photojournalism contest.

Entries for this contest must be submitted by Friday, April 15, and can be brought to the photo archive, 106 S. Evers St. Plant City High students may also submit entries to their college and career counselor.

Contestants are asked to submit one to four photos, along with some copy, about a topic relevant to Plant City.

"It could be your grandfather’s farm or your aunt’s piano that she gave piano lessons on for many years," the archive stated in a release. "Or it could be about the bakery down the street, your uncle’s fishing boat, or a friend’s grandmother who told stories to all the neighborhood kids. Be sure to state why you think the topic is important to the history of Plant City."

High schoolers are asked to submit a 300-600 word story, while adults must submit 400-800 words. Winners will be announced on or around April 29.

First-place winners will receive $100, second-place winners get $75 and third-place winners get $50.
