Plant City’s Relay for Life team had its annual wrap up and review meeting, June 27. Although in 2013, Relay had 45 committee members, the largest in its 15-year history, the committee still needs volunteers.
One of the most need volunteer positions is a sponsorship chair. The sponsorship chair would be responsible for securing corporate sponsors by researching prospects, setting up appointments and handling corporate recognition. The committee is open to having more than one chair to share the responsibility.
“Sponsorships could make up the gap for our goal,” staff partner, Cathy Vallianatos, said.
This year Relay raised $243,500. The count was up from the closing day count of $230,000. Relay was only $1,500 away from securing third place in the state for the amount of funds raised.
For the past three years, Relay had been third place.
This year, sponsorships contributed to $8,250 of the total amount. Gracious to their sponsors, the committee wants to keep that number up and growing.
Other committee members needed include a fundraising chair and online fundraising chair and more members for the team development committee.
