A Plant City student was one of eight people recently accepted into the three-year Resurrection Health residency program, a faith-based, Evangelical health service organization.
Chelsea Porter was accepted into the program on Thursday, March 31. Porter is a graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Carolinas, and is the daughter of Ken and Ann Rushing.
Resurrection Health's Family Medicine Residency Program is geared toward meeting the primary care needs of the underserved Memphis, Tennessee community.
"Any program can train doctors, but our ultimate goal is to train physician leaders to pioneer new ways to reach and properly care for the underserved in both foreign and domestic areas," John David Williamson, program director for Resurrection Family Medicine, said. "Residents leave our program as 'full-scope' family physicians with skills and abilities to holistically meet health care needs, whether practicing in a remote village in Ethiopia or in a clinic in the heart of Los Angeles."
