A 61-year-old Tampa woman was arrested Monday, Oct. 17, after she failed to pay nearly $30,000 in state sales tax collected at her Plant City sandwich shop, authorities said.
Candace Lee Haywood, owner of Norma's Ybor City Cuban Sandwich at 105 E. Baker St., did not send more than $29,000 in sales tax she collected during periods between October 2013 and February 2016, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Revenue. Haywood was charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of theft of state funds and failure to file sales tax.
Records show Haywood was released from the Hillsborough County Jail after posting $8,500 bail.
