Plant City teen dies in Indiana crash

A 19-year-old from Plant City died in a single-vehicle rollover crash last last night.

According to the Kokomo Tribune, William Lamoreaux, of Plant City, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Aztek when he lost control and drove into a ditch. The vehicle flipped multiple times. Lamoreaux wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected, according to Tipton County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Sheriff deputies and Cicero Township volunteer firefighters arrived at the  scene and found Lamoreaux unconscious and unresponsive.

A 14-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers said speed and roadway conditions were factors in the crash.

The Plant City Observer interviewed Lamoreaux in September 2012, when he was named a semifinalist for the 2013 National Merit Scholarship. At that time, Lamoreaux, a Plant City High student, said he “wanted to be a ‘modern-day Renaissance man.’”

Lamoreaux was involved with a variety of extracurricular activities, including Future Business Leaders of America and JROTC. He also was part of the drama club and served as technical director for the Calendar Girls show.

Lamoreaux’s mother, Caron Leddon, said her son had been traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
