Rascal Flatts Prize Pack Winner: Chelsea Talavera!

Well, it’s official: Plant City loves NRG and Rascal Flatts!

We were overwhelmed with entries for this contest — and all had great suggestions and stories behind them. In the end, Chelsea Talavera’s entry stood out just a little from the rest:

I would love to hear NRG perform “Stand” by Rascal Flatts. I believe this song is something so great for teenagers to relate to. These kids are experiencing the most pivotal times in their lives right now during high school, and the lyrics really capture what they may at times be feeling and experiencing.

“Cause when push comes to shove

You taste what you’re made of

You might bend ’til you break

Cause it’s all you can take

On your knees you look up

Decide you’ve had enough

You get mad, you get strong

Wipe your hands, shake it off

Then you stand, then you stand”

NRG is so incredibly talented! All five (and even the minis) are really pushing the limits! They are striving for their dreams. The New York trip was something they were so passionate about and, in turn, very successful in doing. Although some of their peers may not agree or like what they are doing, this song could really be their motto. Even when they may believe they didn’t completely succeed, this song can help pick them back up.

We live in such a hateful world full of sin and wants nothing but awful things to happen. The music and television that our youth is listening to is nothing good for them. We do have to remember these will be the people who run our country one day and create the next generation. I really believe Rascal Flatts still stands for something so good and so right. They sing about things that matter, and that is so important to me!

It really is a powerful message, and it would be inspiring for them to sing, because it is so appropriate for not just NRG but all of our lives!

Congratulations, Chelsea!
