The U.S. Service Academy Information Day will be held at the HCC Trinkle Center on Saturday, March 4.
High school students interested in joining the United States military will have some guidance on Saturday, March 4.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, Rep. Dennis Ross will host a U.S. Service Academy Information Day at the Hillsborough Community College Trinkle Center, 1206 N. Park Road. The event is designed to help students learn more about the appointment process for all five service academies. Participating schools will include the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the Florida Southern College Army ROTC.
Ross will nominate up to 10 candidates to fill vacancies at each service academy, with the final acceptance decisions left up to the academies themselves, and acceptance of an appointment comes with a 10-year commitment to service for the applicant: four years at the academy and six years of active service.
