Teams compete in Saladino tourney
The Saladino Tournament is one of the biggest deals in the Tampa Bay area, and all three area baseball teams took part this year.
Strawberry Crest was the only team to win both of its early games. That put the Chargers in Wednesday's quarterfinals against Riverview, where they suffered a 3-1 loss.
Plant City did not make it that far, but they didn't leave without a highlight: on Tuesday, the Raiders picked up a 21-4 win over Chamberlain, marked by a 10-run second inning. In fact, all 21 Plant City runs were scored in the first four frames.
Durant took back-to-back losses to open the tournament, but did pick up a 10-1 win over Armwood on Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament will wrap up today.
