+ TCMS finishes strong at county
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Turkey Creek Middle School’s track team competed in the Hillsborough County Championships and came away with some great finishes – including a pair of first-place wins in the long jump and shot put.
Results:
Long Jump – First place (Cyril Clark, 18 feet)
Shot Put – First place (Karlie Reed, 37.5 feet)
400m – Ninth place (Hailey Reyes)
4×100 Relay – Sixth place (Ashton Boatwright, Cyril Clark, David Dehaney, Paulino Ramirez)
4×200 Relay – 17th Place (Sabian Gray, Carlo Hunter, Corey Barnes, Anthony Killick)
BASEBALL
+ Raiders to host golf tourney
The Plant City High baseball team announced Dec. 19 that it would be hosting another installment of its annual golf tournament.
This year’s tourney is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, at Diamond Hill Golf and Country Club, 13115 Sydney Road, Dover. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m., with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The cost per player is $75, which covers 18 holes, a cart, lunch and more. There will also be awards given out for a putting challenge, longest drive, closest shot to the pin and hole-in-one contests.

With Christmas break coming to a close, Plant City-area prep sports teams are getting ready to get back to action. With that in mind, it’s about time for the fans to make some plans. Here are the first upcoming home games for all basketball and soccer teams:

1/7 – Plant City at Strawberry Crest (gIrls at 6:45 p.m., boys at 8 p.m.); Tampa Bay Tech at Durant (gIrls at 6:30 p.m., boys at 8 p.m.).
1/9 – East Bay at Plant City (gIrls at 6:45 p.m., boys at 8 p.m.).
Soccer
1/6 – Robinson boys at Plant City (7 p.m.); Armwood at Durant (girls at 6 p.m., boys at 8 p.m.).
