+ P.C. to host State Cup games
The 2015 Florida Youth Soccer Association State Cup is underway, and the action will be headed to Plant City this weekend.
On Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, the Otis M. Andrews Sports Complex will be the place for local soccer fans to be to watch the round of 32 action unfold. The tournament field consists of boys and girls U13-U19 teams, including the Plant City Lancers’ U13 and U16 boys teams. The complex is located at 2602 E. Cherry St.

+ Durant planning clay shoot fundraiser
This April, friends of the Durant High School football team can both help the program out and satisfy an itchy trigger finger.
The program has announced the first annual Durant Football Cougar Clay Shoot Out for Sunday, April 26. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Fishhawk Sporting Clays shooting range, 13505 Hobson Simmons Road, Lithia.
On-site registration will be held at 8:30 a.m., and safety instructions will be reviewed at 9:15 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female shooters in the competition, as well as the top youth (18 and younger) and team shooters. Lunch will also be provided.
Individuals can register for $60, and a team of four can sign up for $220. The registration cost covers 50 clay targets and a barbecue lunch. Gun rentals and shells will be available. Those who wish to attend but not shoot can do so for $10. Checks can be made out to Durant Football, or the fees can be paid by credit or debit card the day of the event.

+ Walden wraps up season in New Jersey
Durant High senior Clint Walden moved to New Jersey to play for a top youth hockey team.
The North Jersey Avalanche wrapped up its 2014-15 season, finishing as one of the top U18 Tier 1 teams in the country. It had the best regular-season record in the country, at 60-10-6, and won the Atlantic Youth Hockey League and Atlantic District championships before finishing as runner-up in the USA Hockey National Championships.
Walden finished with 20 goals and 15 assists (35 points), and plans to return to New Jersey next season.
