+ Cougars drop game to Newsome

The Cougars and Wolves played one half of a game at Bloomingdale High School, and Newsome left with a 14-0 win. On the Cougars’ end, quarterback Noah Johnson completed six of his nine passes for 35 yards, as Durant experimented with a short passing game to get a feel for its new pocket passer.

+ Welbon karate camp coming soon
The first wave of Chris Welbon Karate’s popular summer camp is beginning soon, and there’s still time to register your child.
The camp, which is broken up into two sessions, is for children 4 to 12, and includes basic training, self-defense techniques, a bowling field trip, a giant water slide and squirt gun games. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Chris Welbon camp without “Battlefield! Swords.”

Every day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. The cost is $200 per camper, but discounts are available for children with siblings and those who wish to sign up for both weeks.
To register, and for more information, call Chris Welbon Karate at (813) 752-9800 or visit PlantCityKarate.com. The school is located at 602 S. Collins St.
