PCHS boys XC at North Port
Plant City High School’s boys cross country team finished strong at the Sept. 22 North Port Invite.
The Raiders placed third overall at the event and were led by Tyler Carter’s 14th-place finish in 18:15.60. Two other Raiders finished in the top 25: Anthony Killick’s 18:26.40 time was good for 17th place and Danny Ramirez’s 18:39.70 was the 22nd-fastest time of the day.
Crest volleyball finds groove
The Strawberry Crest Chargers are dominating on the volleyball court this month, currently riding a seven-game win streak.
Crest now has a 9-5 overall record and hasn’t lost since Sept. 1. The Chargers are 5-0 in district play, with four of those wins coming since Sept. 1, and have only dropped one set (to Bloomingdale) during the streak.
The Chargers will be back on the court tonight at East Bay, and their final home game of the regular season is an Oct. 2 clash with Steinbrenner set for 7:30 p.m.
City offering tennis lessons
Registration for October lessons at the Plant City Tennis Center is now open.
The center is offering lessons for singles and team players age 4 and older beginning as early as Oct. 8. Lessons are held in the late afternoon to early evening once to twice per week between Mondays and Thursdays.

Patrick’s Patriots looking for twirlers
Local baton twirling outfit Patrick’s Patriots is now offering classes at the Planteen Recreation Center, 301 Dort St., and youth are invited to give twirling a shot
Classes are scheduled every Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for beginners, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for intermediates and from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. for middle schoolers. Competition-focused group and individual classes are also available.
