Depression formed May 3 is determined to be a sinkhole.
On May 3 a depression appeared on Airport Road near the corner with Alexander Street. Investigation determined the depression to be a sinkhole. The westbound lane is blocked for approximately 50 yards. At this time, there does not appear to be a cavity below the depression, but the limestone underneath is porous and loose.
The Plant City Streets and Stormwater Department is in the process of determining a contractor to repair the depression. The contractor will drill down 130 to 150 feet and using high pressure will inject grout beneath the depression. The estimated completion date is the end of June at a cost of approximately $300,000.
