City officials want input on the city’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year.
Join city commissioners at a special city commission meeting to discuss the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024. The meeting will be held Monday, August 14 at 5 p.m. at the Nettie Berry Draughon Municipal Building (City Hall), located at 302 W. Reynolds St.
In an effort to maintain transparency, the public is invited to attend and weigh in on the budget, which serves as a spending plan and investment in the community and its workforce.
The adopted budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 included $46,781,370 in the General Fund while the total budget (including Water/Sewer, Solid Waste, Stormwater, Streets and several special revenue funds) was $96,395,983. The millage rate was set at 5.7157 mills, which included a 1.0 mil dedicated solely to street resurfacing and related maintenance. It is proposed that next year those funds will cover the repaving of a large section of Collins St.
