Two Dover residents are facing charges of animal cruelty for depriving 14 horses of proper nourishment.
Humberto DeJesus, 54, and Dale Jahnke-Davis, 53, fed the horses so little over an extended period of time it caused the horses to suffer malnutrition by losing a high percentage of their normal body fat, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office report.
One of the horses died as a result of the neglect. Another suffered from a tail injury that went untreated by a licensed veterinarian.
The horses were also not provided medical or dental treatment.
