Two former Plant City commissioners have passed away. Commissioner Mike Sparkman made the announcement at yesterday’s city commission meeting.
James Hoover suffered a fatal injury when the gun he was handling at his Plant City home accidentally fired. Also a dentist, he served on the commission from 1978 to 1982.
Gerald Hooker died of natural causes in Texas. Hooker served on the commission three terms from 1966 to 1974 and was mayor twice.
Mayor Mary Mathis asked for two proclamations to be prepared and sent to the families.
