UPDATE: Identity of man injured in Interstate 4 accident released

UPDATE

The name of the man injured in an Interstate 4 crash Thursday, April 28, has been released. 

Michael Robert Plaskett, 26, of Lakeland, was driving his 1999 Lexus east on I-4, near Branch Forbes Road, around 3:54 a.m. He drifted out of the center lane, hitting a trailer, driven by Yonlys Pena, 44, of Tampa, and flipped several times.

The crash closed part of I-4 until about 7:30 a.m.

Plaskett was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Thursday with critical injuries. Pena was not harmed.

A man was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Thursday with critical injuries, following a crash near Branch Forbes Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling eastbound on Interstate 4 around 3:54 a.m. when, for reasons unknown, he drifted out of the center lane, hitting a trailer and flipping several times before coming to a stop in the center lane. The crash closed part of I-4 until about 7:30 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle hauling the trailer was not harmed. The man driving the overturned vehicle, whose name has not yet been released, was confirmed to have been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
