On Wednesday, March 2, Visions Golf LLC submitted revised development plans for the closed 18-hole golf course, The Hills, in the Walden Lake community.
When plans were first submitted, the company initially proposed development plans of 156 multi-family homes and 154 single-family homes, along with an assisted living facility.
But now, Visions is considering its other options. The most recently proposed plans would allow for more duplexes, about 60, instead of the assisted living facility.
This isn’t the first time that Visions has revised its development plans. In July, the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County reported that the proposed rezoning would “likely result in wetland impacts.” At that time, the EPC recommended that Visions should redesign its site plan to avoid such impacts.
Just last month, Visions submitted updated plans to the City of Plant City’s Planning and Zoning department. About 400 units from the multi-family and single-family units were cut from the original site plan.
Though the plans have been revised multiple times since they were first submitted, the rezoning has caused massive conflict in the Walden Lake community. In May, the Walden Lake Community Association voted to join a lawsuit to oppose the rezoning of the course.
