The Christian ensemble will perform Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017.
As 2016 comes to a close, Christian vocal group Voices of Mobile is wrapping up another busy year.
Comprised of students from the University of Mobile, the ensemble released its latest worship album, “Here in this House” this past summer. Midway through a summer tour, the singers began work on a Christmas album.
But the group won’t be taking a break in the new year. At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, Voices of Mobile will kick off its 2017 tour dates at First Baptist Church of Dover.
The singing group has ties to the church at 3223 Gallagher Road. David Burtt, the church’s music pastor, is a Voices of Mobile alum.
The free concert on Jan. 4 will be the ensemble’s only stop in the Tampa Bay area in 2017, as the singing group is making a name for itself in the United States and abroad. The group has recently completed a world tour that included stops in China, Cuba and the Philippines, and has plans to travel to Israel in 2017. Past audience members have included Condoleezza Rice, Tim Tebow, Dr. Ben Carson and President George W. Bush.
