Every year, the East Hillsborough Historical Society's Florida Strawberry Festival booth runs on the power of volunteers. The society put out a call for 2016 volunteers on Wednesday, and are hoping to get people to stem strawberries and work its booth.
Stemmers would begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 N. Collins St, and they are asked to bring a pan and a small knife. Booth workers will work from Thursday, March 3 through Sunday, March 13, in shifts of 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
Stemmers will receive one free gate ticket for every two days of stemming, and booth volunteers will be given a free ticket for the days that they work. After the festival, anyone that volunteered and sent an RSVP by Monday, March 21 can enjoy the EHHS's Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at the 1914 center.
