VSI Tampa Bay FC PRO, PDL and W-League are hosting five games between Friday, June 7 and Sunday, June 9 in Plant City Stadium.
VSI Tampa Bay FC W-League kick up the soccer-packed weekend with the Charlotte Lady Eagles on June 7 at 4 p.m. This is the women’s first encounter with Charlotte this season and the first of two back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.
University of South Florida defender Cara Patterson is leading the way for VSI Tampa Bay FC’s women with four points and two goals scored in the womens’ four games played.
VSI’s women enter the match Friday afternoon at the bottom of the Southeastern Conference with four points and an overall record of 1-2-1. The Lady Eagles enter with six points and a 2-2-0 record.
VSI PRO follow the women in Friday night’s double header with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against Antigua Barracuda FC. This is the PRO’s second match-up against Antigua this season. The first encounter saw VSI win 3-1 over the Barracuda. Our VSI PRO sit in the middle of the standings with 16 points and 9 games played with an overall record of 5-3-1.
Antigua sits at the very bottom of the pack with zero points, nine games played and a record of 0-9-0. Barracuda’s Tamorley Thomas scored Antigua’s first goal of the season and Antigua’s only goal of the match.
VSI’s Tony Donatelli and Mauricio Salles locked up Tampa Bay FC’s victory over Antigua in their first meeting of the 2013 season with goals put past Barracuda keeper Corey Whisenhunt.
Salles returns to play Friday evening after recovering from a concussion received in the Wilmington Hammerheads match two weekends ago in Plant City Stadium.
Forward Andriy Budnyy is leading the charts for VSI’s PRO team with eight points and four goals, but will miss the Antigua match due to an injury received in the Portland Timbers draw last weekend.
After the PRO game Friday evening, the W-League return to the pitch on Saturday, June 8 for a 3 p.m. kickoff against the Dayton Dutch Lions. This is the first meeting of the two clubs this year and Dayton enters just ahead of VSI with four points and a 1-0-1 record.
Following the Dayton match, VSI’s PDL takes the field hosting SW Florida Adrenaline at 7 p.m. VSI’s PDL is third in the Southeast Division at the moment with seven points and an overall record of 2-2-1. SW Florida holds three points and an overall record of 1-2-0.
VSI’s Josey Portillo and Robert ‘Alex’ Morrell lead the attack with three goals apiece. University of South Florida is making its’ mark on VSI Tampa Bay FC’s season with standouts Ricardo Webb, Edwin Moalosi and Stiven Salinas earning three points apiece for the team.
Rounding out the weekend is the PRO side one last time. VSI’s USL PRO team hosts Phoenix FC on Sunday, June 9 at 7 p.m. This is the second meeting of the two sides and VSI looks to bounce back from the 1-0 loss received in their first-ever meeting at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
The Wolves’ Diego Faria assisted Joao Inacio de Jesus’ finish in the first match and VSI will have to deal with these two threats while keeping an eye on defender Donald Toia who leads Phoenix’s scoring with seven points and three goals.
