Rich Glorioso and Ray Page were re-elected to the board. Alicia Powell, the current president of the ParkWood association, also was elected.
The homeowners of Walden Lake have elected their new board members to the Walden Lake Community Association. The board members were announced at the community's annual meeting at Plant City Church of God on Thursday, April 14.
The four candidates on the ballot were current WLCA President Bob Hunter, board members Rich Glorioso and Ray Page, and ParkWood president Alicia Powell.
Glorioso, Powell and Page were all elected to the board. Page led with 529 votes, followed by Glorioso with 474 votes and Powell with 447 votes. Hunter had 364 votes.
The board will determine its new president and other officers at the monthly meeting on Monday, April 18, at the WLCA office on Griffin Boulevard.
Hunter, who has served on the board for about seven years, wished the board well with the newly elected and re-elected members.
"There's a lot to do," Hunter said. "I've got all the confidence in the world that the WLCA is going to make this community a competitive place to live for children and families."
Hunter added that he saw no problems with the election process.
"I think it was a very, very good process," he said.
When asked if he would run in an election again, Hunter said, "I have to ask my wife."
Ray Page, the current chair of the landscaping committee, was the only candidate to receive over 500 votes.
"I enjoyed working with Bob Hunter on many issues that needed to be taken care of," Page said. "But people have a right to vote for who they want to vote for. That's the democratic process. I'm sure everybody will work together for the better of the community."
Rich Glorioso, also re-elected, was pleased to have the opportunity to serve on the board for another term.
"I'm happy," Glorioso said. "Very excited and happy. We've got to get back under control, and I will keep fighting for residents as I have been all along."
Alicia Powell, the newly elected board member, was not present at the meeting due to illness. Powell's first meeting as a board member will be the monthly meeting on April 18.

— Prior to the announcement of the election results, some residents voiced their concerns over the community's financials. The financials were not present at the annual meeting.
Glorioso said that, to the best of his knowledge, it was the first time that the financials weren't at the meeting.
The financials are available on the community association's website at WaldenLake.org.
— The WLCA will be putting up 21 signs around Walden Lake and the park that warn residents of the alligators in the area. The sign, which features an alligator, also instructs residents not to feed the wildlife. The signs are going up after Eddie Evans was attacked by an alligator in the area. Evans was able to escape, but the alligator has yet to be caught.
A trapper, Hunter said, is going out every other day to try to catch the alligator. The gator that attacked Evans is believed to be about 12-feet long. Two other gators, between four to six feet, also have been spotted in the area. For the moment, the trapper is most concerned with trapping the gator that attacked Evans.
