Lexie Chancey raised money by selling cookies and drinks.
One elementary school student is already making big contributions to her community.
Eight-year-old Lexie Chancey recently sold cookies and drinks at the Walden Lake Community Garage Sale on April 2, to raise money for Relay for Life and Lighthouse Ministries. The third grader, who attends Walden Lake Elementary School, felt that she could do more to contribute to her community, and took it upon herself to raise the money.
Chancey raised $100 dollars after the cost of materials. Chancey’s mother, Christina, and stepfather, EJ Deese, matched her donation, bringing her grand total up to $200 dollars.
Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society, and Lighthouse Ministries provides food, clothing and shelter to the homeless across Central Florida.
