Walden Lake Golf and Country Club closed over workers’ compensation issue

The Walden Lake Golf and Country Club has been closed since last week due to a workers’ compensation issue.

The club posted that it expected to reopen Tuesday, Aug. 16, but was still closed Wednesday, Aug. 17, with no date yet scheduled for reopening.

A sign in the Walden Lake Country Club office reads, “The Department of Financial Services, Division of Workers’ Compensation issued a Stop-Work Order for the employer listed above on Aug. 12, 2016.”

The country club is managed by Lynn Archibald, the owner of Professional Golf Global Group. Archibald took over the club in 2015.

Additionally, the City of Plant City's Code Enforcement department recently received a complaint about holes and loose boards on one of the course's bridges on the 18-hole Lakes course.

"It has not been elevated to a code violation at this time," Code Enforcement Manager Tray Towles said. "But I anticipate, if it is not corrected by the end of the week, we will be issuing a notice of violation."
