Construction on an additional right turn lane on Timberlane Drive in Walden Lake will begin the week of Aug. 24 and will be completed by Dec. 1.
A temporary construction easement was approved by the City Commission at its Aug. 10 meeting so that construction on the intersection could begin. The construction is estimated to cost $175,000.
The improvements were proposed to both the Walden Lake Community Association board and the City Commission in late May.
In the past, the intersection of Timberlane Drive at Alexander Street has seen traffic problems, specifically delays in the in the left turn traffic lane. An additional right turn lane is being added on Timberlane Drive heading toward Alexander Street, in addition to restriping the existing lanes. The construction will improve the eastbound left traffic, as well as the eastbound right traffic.
“This is great for everyone on Alexander Street as well as those exiting Walden Lake,” Mayor Rick Lott said.
